VINELink in Union County
The Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association TN SAVIN page says all 95 sheriffs participate. Union County is included. No local page spells out result fields or update timing. Open VINELink itself to see the live screen.
VINE answers custody questions and sends alerts. A result can show that someone is held and support notice of release, transfer, or escape. It is not the sheriff’s arrest report. The booking record stays with the jail or the arresting agency. Case outcomes belong to the court.
VINE is not a safety plan by itself. If danger is immediate, call 911, and for a newly processed Union County booking, call the jail.
The statewide SAVIN source documents participation and the basic search and registration route.
The TN SAVIN page documents statewide sheriff participation, while VINELink’s own interface holds the live result fields.
Search a Union County Arrest
Open the VINELink portal and pick Tennessee. The offender or custody search appears next. The state says you can search by name or by a booking number from the jail. A booking number beats a common name.
- Select Tennessee before entering a person’s details.
- Enter the exact last name and first name or initial shown on the booking record.
- Add the booking number when Union County Jail provides it.
- Review multiple matches using facility, identifier, status, and other lawful details.
- Confirm an uncertain or missing result with Union County Jail at 865-992-6262.
Never enter extra personal data. A first name match is not always the right person, since spelling, a transfer, or a feed delay can throw a result off; the county’s recent arrest overview explains how to request the actual record. The Tennessee search view shows the screen used for a custody lookup.
Use exact identity details on the search screen and leave unrelated private information out of it.
What VINELink May Show
State sources promise custody data and event alerts. No county field list exists. Treat each result as a snapshot, and check it against the booking number or a call to the jail.
| Possible item | Meaning and limit |
|---|---|
| Name or identifier | Helps match a person but requires careful identity comparison |
| Facility | The reported custody location at the system’s last update |
| Custody status | Held, released, transferred, or another reported state |
| Event history | Reported custody changes, not a full court chronology |
| Notification option | A way to register for future events when available |
| Photo | Not promised for every Union County result |
A release alert does not erase the arrest record. Custody can change again. The sheriff’s file and the court docket move on their own, whatever the screen said.
Register for Tennessee VINE Alerts
Tennessee SAVIN registration uses a four-digit PIN. Sign up by phone or email. State material also lists text, app, and TTY options plus a live operator, though the available methods can change. Follow the choices on the current registration screen.
- Open the correct person’s custody result and choose the registration option.
- Select the offered phone, email, text, app, or accessibility channel.
- Enter the requested contact details and create a four-digit PIN when prompted.
- Save the person’s name or booking number, the PIN, and the confirmation.
- Update contact details if they change and keep the jail number available as a backup.
The Tennessee program staffs a 24-hour operator at 1-888-868-4631 and offers TTY help at 1-866-847-1298. Your PIN guards the notification settings. Phone alerts may ask for it to confirm receipt. The VINELink registration route shows the notification choices and the PIN flow.
Registration sits apart from search. Finding a record and subscribing to alerts are two different steps in VINELink.
Fresh Union County Booking Delays
No Union County page states the lag between jail intake and a VINE update. Delays are normal. A person can be transported, screened, identified, and entered locally before any statewide result appears. If an arrest may have happened today, use the same-day Union County arrest path and call the jail first.
A blank result proves nothing. It does not rule out an arrest. Verify the spelling and try the booking number, then call the jail. If the person was transferred, ask which agency or system now holds them, and note the time of each check since custody and data both shift.
The sheriff’s mobile app is a separate tool. VINELink is not that app. Its store listings describe public-safety news plus tip and crime-report functions, and no listing shows a live Union County booking-photo feed.
County and TDOC VINE
County SAVIN covers county custody. TDOC VINE is different. It tracks people held by the Tennessee Department of Correction and can report location, transfer, release, parole eligibility, or sentence expiration within its stated scope. Someone held pretrial at Union County Jail may show no TDOC result.
FOIL is another state channel. It covers felony offenders now or formerly in TDOC custody or supervision. A result may show a photo, status, location, offense, sentence, and release date. That photo is a state profile image. It is not always the Union County intake photo.
| System | Custody stage |
|---|---|
| Union County Jail | Just booked or currently held locally |
| Tennessee SAVIN | County custody events and notifications |
| TDOC FOIL and VINE | State felony custody or supervision |
| Union County courts | Case filings, hearings, and disposition |
Federal and Immigration Limits
Tennessee VINELink stops at the state line. It does not cover the federal Bureau of Prisons, so anyone tracing a federal prisoner needs the BOP inmate locator instead. That tool searches by name or register number. It posts no booking photographs. A federal pretrial detainee may not surface there at all, and the answer could sit with the holding facility, the court, or the U.S. Marshals instead.
Immigration custody runs on yet another track. ICE relies on its Online Detainee Locator System, which asks for an A-number and country of birth or other exact identity fields. DHS also runs its own VINE-facing service, shown through the DHS VINE service, and that separate jurisdiction should never be mistaken for the Tennessee county search. Union County, for its part, lists no ICE detention contract, so immigration holds connected to Union County arrest records would fall outside the state SAVIN feed.
Verify Every Custody Alert
Automated notices have blind spots. An alert can land late, after a custody change, or during an outage, and the Tennessee program can disable search or registration entirely when its data is unavailable. Keep independent phone numbers on hand. Union County Jail, the sheriff's office, an attorney, and any support service involved in the situation all belong on that list.
Before acting on an alert that reports a release or transfer, match the offender identifier and the facility first. Details matter here. If the result looks unclear, call the jail directly. For the legal side of a Union County case, the case search and the clerk hold the answers, since custody status and court outcome are two different records.
VINELink reports custody events. It is one signal, never the full picture.
Note: Save your registration confirmation and keep contact details current so alerts can actually reach you.
Stuck on the mechanics? The Tennessee operator line helps with search and registration questions. It cannot replace Union County Jail, settle a court matter, or confirm that a newly arrested person has entered the feed.
